About the Title

I chose the name "Toy Soldier," because somewhere along the line, I read that it was a slightly derogatory slang term for an elven marine of the Elven Imperial Navy, so called because their uniforms bore a resemblance to the bright outfits that toy soldiers wore, and because they are, quite frankly, ornamental.  I thought that this information was contained in a primary source lexicon from the Spelljammer® campaign material somewhere, but was unable to find it.  Googling the subject, I found one of my own missives in the Spelljammer Mailing List Archives, located at the Beyond the Moons website, stating that I had found it on a "slang terms" website in February of 2002, which no longer seems to exist.  Incidentally, I was nursing the idea of these books even then, though initially it was only going to be the first one, since we were still playing the "Sable's Privateers" portion of the story at the time.
